Professional Pilot

Commercial Pilot Licence - CPL(A)

The CPL(A) Commercial Pilot Training is designed for those who wish to fly on commercial flights, conduct aerial work or become a flight instructor. A commercial pilot can carry out commercial flights and thus have flying as their profession.

Entry training requirements

  • Minimum age 18 years
  • Valid PPL(A) licence – SEP Land or MEP Land
  • Total flight time of at least 150 hours
  • ICAO exam – minimum level 4
  • Sufficient knowledge of physics and mathematics to understand the theory. Demonstrated by a high school diploma or a test in our school.

Requirements for the CPL(A) licence

At the end of the CPL(A) training, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Aviation Medical Licence Class 1
  • NIGHT(A) qualification
  • Total flight time at least 200 hours of which
    • 100 hours as pilot-in-command
    • 20 hours of VFR navigational flight time as pilot-in-command, including a navigational flight of at least 540 km (300 NM), with a landing at two airports other than the airport of departure, with a full stop.
  • Completed the CPL(A) or ATPL(A) theory 
  • Pass the CPL(A) or ATPL(A) theoretical examination at the CAA
  • Take a practical test on the aircraft with a CAA inspector

Training curriculum 25 hours of flying, for IR holders 15 hours

The minimum training curriculum includes 25 hours of flying, 5 of which are in a complex aircraft. All flights are in pairs.

For holders of an IR licence or a certificate of completion of the Basic Instrument Flight Module, the syllabus is reduced to 15 hours, of which 5 hours are in a complex aircraft.

Theoretical CPL(A) course

We teach theory either in a group in ATPL courses or individually with each pilot. The theoretical part consists of 13 subjects. Already during the course, you take the CAA exams.

While taking this training, we recommend using the Tecnam P2002 JR plane with retractable landing gear and adjustable propeller. In this aircraft, you will acquire the most important habits of a commercial pilot, which you will use in your future career.

The number of instructor hours depends on the extent to which you prepare for the lessons independently according to the training syllabus. The average cost of landing fees for training is approximately 511 €. You pay for training in increments as you fly. We will give you a 5 % discount if you pay for the whole training in advance. After the training, you can rent aircraft at discounted prices.

Pilot training in Prague Letňany is ideal for those who want to fly without restrictions throughout the Czech Republic or Europe after obtaining a pilot’s licence. Prague Letňany Airport is located in the controlled airspace of Kbely and Ruzyně, so from the very beginning, you will learn how to communicate and fly properly in these areas.
